News of Whitney Houston’s death shocked many around the world, including Atlanta, where she and former husband Bobby Brown lived for more than five years.

In fact, some of her legendary music was recorded in studios around the city. Sound engineers who spent more than a decade working with Houston remembered her for her warm personality.

“Whitney walked in and lit up the room,” said TK Kidd, manager of Silent Sound Studios. “From the first moment you turned on the lights and hit record, she was absolutely always on point.”

Kidd worked with Houston to record her 2003 holiday album “One Wish,” along with several tracks from 2002′s “Just Whitney.”

He said her influence helped set the mold for the Atlanta music scene.
